BPJS Kesehatan, through its Director General Ali Ghufron Mukti, has set a target for 100% of Indonesia’s population to become JKN participants by 2030. As of December 2025, the JKN coverage has reached 282.7 million people, representing 98.62% of Indonesia’s total population.
Current Progress and SDGs Alignment
The JKN program is a key indicator for achieving SDG 3.8.1, aiming for 98% coverage by 2024 and universal coverage by 2030. By December 2025, active participation stands at 81.45%, showing significant progress toward these goals.
Steps to Achieve Universal Coverage
To reach the 2030 target, BPJS Kesehatan will focus on expanding access and awareness, particularly in underserved areas. Encouraging community engagement and simplifying enrollment processes are among the strategies to ensure no one is left behind.
The Realistic Benefits of Universal JKN Coverage
Universal JKN coverage will ensure equitable access to healthcare, reducing financial burdens and improving overall public health. This initiative aligns with global health goals and underscores Indonesia’s commitment to a healthier future for all its citizens.
